It was Bible club again. We were learning Ps. 119:112, "I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes Forever, even to the end." While explaining the verse, we came to the word "statutes." "Does anyone know what a 'statute' is," I asked, not really expecting any to give a right answer. Our little 3 1/2 yr. old Kyle raised his hand. When I called on him, a smile grew on his face (an expression of satisfaction that he indeed had the right answer), as he said, "something that people bow down to." Statute is not exactly a homonym with statue, but it's easy to see why he answered the way he did.
Anyway, as his dad, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the smile and the slightly misguided, but intelligent effort to plug into what we were doing.
